Protein Apple Danish

A delightful twist on a classic apple pastry, packed with protein and perfect for any time of day—breakfast, snack, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt or cottage cheese
  • 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla recommended)
  • 1 cup light flour alternative (almond, coconut, or whole-wheat flour)
  • ½ cup reduced-fat cream cheese or ricotta
  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla extract (to taste)
  • 23 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • Sweetener (like honey or maple syrup, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing, then toss with cinnamon and sweetener.
  3. Mix the Greek yogurt (or cottage cheese) with protein powder until smooth.
  4. Add the light flour alternative gradually and stir until just combined.
  5. Incorporate the reduced-fat dairy until rich and creamy.
  6. Layer a third of the batter in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the apples, more batter, the remaining apples, and the last of the batter.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and set.
  8. Cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness when serving. Perfect alongside a cup of coffee or chai tea.
