Philly Cheesesteak Bowls

A hearty twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak served in a comforting bowl with tender steak, sautéed veggies, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ribeye or sirloin steak, sliced very thin against the grain
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 1 large yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cremini mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone or white American cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the steak: Slice your steak very thin against the grain and freeze for about 30 minutes to make slicing easier.
  2. Sauté the veggies: Heat half of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, add onions and bell peppers, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the garlic: Push the veggies to the side, add remaining olive oil, and sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Cook the steak: Add the sliced steak to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce, and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Melt the cheese: Reduce heat, place cheese slices on top of the steak mixture, cover, and let sit for 2-3 minutes until melted.
  6. Assemble the bowls: Serve the cheesy steak mixture over rice, quinoa, or your favorite grain, and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Serve with your choice of base like rice or quinoa. Experiment with different toppings or serve over greens for a lighter option!
