Homemade Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

A vibrant dish featuring crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy, slightly spicy sauce wrapped in warm tortillas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Taco shells or tortillas
  • Lettuce, for garnish
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • For the Bang Bang Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lemon juice until smooth. Taste it and adjust the heat with sriracha if desired.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: In another bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper for coating.
  3. Dredge the Shrimp: Pat shrimp dry, dip into the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, pour in 1 inch of vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the Shrimp: Place shrimp into hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain Excess Oil: Remove shrimp and place on paper towels to drain oil.
  7. Assemble the Tacos: Lay out a tortilla, add lettuce, crispy shrimp, and drizzle with Bang Bang sauce. Garnish with green onions.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake the shrimp at 400°F for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
