Homemade Chunky Monkey Ice Cream

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Prepare your bananas: Peel and mash the ripe bananas until smooth, keeping some texture.
  2. Combine the base: Whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until sugar dissolves, then fold in the mashed bananas.
  3. Chill your mixture: Cover and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes.
  4. Churn the ice cream: Pour into an ice cream maker and churn for 20-25 minutes until soft-serve consistency.
  5. Add chocolate and walnuts: Gently fold in walnuts and chocolate chunks during the last minutes of churning.
  6. Freeze to firm up: Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Serve up the goodness: Allow to sit at room temperature for 5-10 min before scooping, and enjoy in bowls or cones.
