Irresistible Homemade Apple Dumplings

A sweet treat that wraps childhood nostalgia in flaky, buttery pastry, filled with warm baked apples and cinnamon.

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 1 package flaky pastry dough
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the apples: peel and core them, leaving them whole.
  3. Roll out the pastry dough into a rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Wrap the apples in the dough squares and seal them well.
  5. Prepare the sauce by melting butter and stirring in brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Bake the dumplings in a greased baking dish for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes
