Fig Honey Butter

A luxurious spread combining figs, honey, and butter, perfect for toast or charcuterie boards.

  • 34 pounds fresh ripe figs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the figs: Rinse under cold water, pat dry, cut off stems, and slice into quarters.
  2. Combine and simmer: In a large saucepan, combine figs, water, lemon juice, and lemon zest over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add sweetness and spices: Once figs soften, stir in honey, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and salt. Let simmer until thickened.
  4. Cool and store: Remove from heat, cool for a few minutes, and transfer to a jar. Let cool completely before sealing.

Notes

Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Great for spreading on toast or as a gift.
