Chicken Sausage Broccoli Orzo Skillet

A quick and easy one-pan meal featuring chicken sausage, broccoli, and orzo pasta that embodies flavor and comfort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Large drizzle of olive oil
  • 8 ounces Chicken Sausage, cut into 1/4 to 1/2 slices
  • 23 cups broccoli, roughly chopped
  • Kosher salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup Orzo pasta
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat it up: Start by pouring a generous drizzle of olive oil into a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the sausages: Add the sliced chicken sausage to the skillet. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes until they’re nicely browned.
  3. Add garlic: Toss in the minced garlic and let it sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In with the broccoli: Add the roughly chopped broccoli. Stir and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  5. Mix in the orzo: Pour the uncooked orzo into the skillet, giving everything a good stir.
  6. Broth it up: Add in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  7. Cheesy goodness: Once the orzo is tender and most of the broth is absorbed, stir in the shredded parmesan cheese.
  8. Taste and adjust: Give it a taste and add more salt and pepper as needed.
  9. Serve it up: Turn off the heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes before plating.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes or lemon zest.
