Delicious, Tender, Cheesy Kohlrabi Nests

Cheesy kohlrabi nests are a delightful twist on comfort food, combining mild kohlrabi with cheese and breadcrumbs for a crispy, tender dish.

  • 2 Kohlrabi, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1 cup Cheddar or Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the kohlrabi by peeling and slicing into thin rounds.
  3. Cook the kohlrabi rounds by steaming for 5 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Mix the steamed kohlrabi with cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a large bowl.
  5. Shape the mixture into nest-like shapes on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let cool before transferring to a platter.

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños. You can also mix in fresh herbs for extra flavor.
