  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup water
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
  • Caramel sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by rinsing them and removing the cores, keeping the bottoms intact.
  3. Mix the brown sugar, chopped nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and raisins in a bowl.
  4. Stuff each apple generously with the filling mixture.
  5. Add 1 cup of water to the baking dish and cover it with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a unique twist, try substituting apple cider for the water or adding chocolate hazelnut spread.
