Sweet and Spicy Garlic Steak Pasta

A flavorful dish combining pasta with tender steak coated in a sweet and spicy garlic sauce, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or fettuccine)
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), sliced thinly
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Your Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta of choice and cook according to package instructions until al dente (usually 8–10 minutes). Remember to reserve about 1/2 cup of that starchy pasta water before draining!
  2. Prep the Steak: While the pasta is cooking, take your sliced steak and pat it dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper—don’t be shy!
  3. Sear the Steak: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once shimmering, carefully add the steak slices. Let them sear without stirring for about 2–3 minutes until nicely browned. Flip them over and cook for another 2 minutes until cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant. Pour in the soy sauce and add the brown sugar and red pepper flakes. Stir well and let it simmer for a minute.
  5. Combine Everything: Add the drained pasta right into the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat every strand. If it looks a bit dry, gradually add in the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  6. Add the Steak Back In: Lastly, add the seared steak back into the pan, tossing everything together for another minute on low heat until warmed through.
  7. Taste & Adjust: Give everything a taste. If needed, adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes.

Notes

Add sautéed vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for extra crunch. This dish can be made in advance; simply reheat when ready to serve.
