Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes

  • 1 package store-bought puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare your puff pastry by letting it thaw for about 30 minutes on the countertop.
  3. Cut the rolled pastry into heart shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Make the cream cheese filling by beating together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Assemble the danishes by dolloping the cream cheese filling onto the center of each pastry and topping with chopped strawberries.
  6. Form the hearts by placing one pastry on top of another and pinching them together at the bottom.
  7. Brush the egg wash over the tops of each danish.
  8. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Cool on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These danishes can be prepared ahead of time and frozen before baking.
